Mobility in the world

Socio-economic profile could be a relevant factor when defining a platform strategy for mobile banking. This is particularly important in emerging markets where feature phones are widely used by the unbanked and under banked population. A native rich UX strategy focused on smartphones could be an access barrier for low-income customers.

On the other hand, a multiplatform development may not have a clear return of investment for that customer profile. Multi-platform development frameworks have evolved substantially, but they look more adequate for content mobilization in media and for third party processes and back office services. When a rich front end, financial customer service is going to be developed, a careful cost/benefit analysis should be done if frameworks are going to be considered.
